{"id":2,"date":"2012-10-07T09:00:39","date_gmt":"2012-10-07T13:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/downtowncampbellsville.com\/main\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2018-02-11T18:07:59","modified_gmt":"2018-02-11T23:07:59","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.downtowncampbellsville.com\/main\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"ABOUT"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>About Us<\/h1>\n<p>Downtown Campbellsville (DC) is a mixed-use neighborhood where people work, live, learn and play.<\/p>\n<h2>Main Street Program<\/h2>\n<p>Since 1983, the Downtown Business Association (DBA) has looked out for the interests of the local merchants in the central business district.\u00a0\u00a0 As times have changed in the past 3 decades, so has the mission and scope of the DBA.\u00a0 Because DC consists of mixed-use space and cultural diversity, you might also think of the DBA&#8217;s expanded role as a &#8220;neighborhood association&#8221; for all people who work, live, or play downtown.<\/p>\n<p>MEMBERSHIP &#8211; The DBA alliance is formed by participating businesses, affiliates, and advertisers.\u00a0 Not all merchants or property owners participate. We are not all things to all people. We generally serve the needs of the many, not the few.\u00a0 Like any organization, there are operating procedures and costs.\u00a0 Members are sponsors (and vice versa) because they want to be associated with causes like preservation, renovation, and revitalization<\/p>\n<p>BOARD OF DIRECTORS &#8211; The DBA is administered by 6 to 9 board members that are qualified because they own property or are business owners. Comments and suggestions should be emailed to &#8220;<em>info (at)\u00a0 downtowncampbellsville (dot) com<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<h2>Identity<\/h2>\n<p>Downtown Campbellsville&#x2122; (DC) is the brand for promoting activities of Main Street.\u00a0 Branding efforts include messaging (positioning, perception) and marketing (engagement, promotion, and value creation).\u00a0 As the city, university, and healthcare sectors grow the precise definition and boundaries of what &#8220;downtown&#8221; becomes arbitrary.\u00a0 We define Downtown Campbellsville &#8220;arbitrarily&#8221; in ways that benefit the greater good.\u00a0 A few things that define DC to the public are brand messaging, activities,\u00a0 maps, directories, and guides in ways that build good campaigns and promotions.<\/p>\n<p>There are 7\u00a0 projects DC is involved because it impacts our existence:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>DC &#8211; Downtown Campbellsville Historic Buildings<\/li>\n<li>CU &#8211; Campbellsville University<\/li>\n<li>HH &#8211; Historic Homes (Lebanon Avenue)<\/li>\n<li>HC &#8211; Health Care park &#8211; Taylor Regional Hospital<\/li>\n<li>MP &#8211; Recreation &#8211; Miller Park, Trail Town<\/li>\n<li>WW &#8211; Waterways &#8211; Buckhorn Creek, City Lake, and Green River Lake<\/li>\n<li>AT &#8211; Agritourism (farmer&#8217;s market, makers market, buy local campaign)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Mission<\/h2>\n<p>Downtown Campbellsville is private enterprise at work and is not a government agency.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our mission is to promote higher education (learn), create jobs (earn), and define a lifestyle (live)<\/li>\n<li>We revitalize buildings and build businesses<\/li>\n<li>We empower our friends and neighbors and invite them to join us in activities that &#8220;pay it forward&#8221; and benefit the &#8220;greater good&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What we do often works and if it doesn&#8217;t, we&#8217;ll fix it.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>We give and we serve.\u00a0 And in return, downtown comes to life. <\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Focus<\/h2>\n<p>Our efforts are primarily focused on the commerce, property, and residential concerns of Downtown (DC). This also includes an emphasis on our strategic relationship with the University (CU) and agritourism activities with local farmers and artisans (makers) (AT).<\/p>\n<p>A secondary focus is the things connected to Downtown Campbellsville such as recreation (MP), healthcare (HC), and waterways (WW).<\/p>\n<h2>Operations<\/h2>\n<p>Operations are broken out into:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Design &#8211; Beautification, Decorating<\/li>\n<li>Investment &#8211; Buildings, Businesses, Value Creation, Recruiting<\/li>\n<li>Logistics &#8211; Project Management, Resources, Work Orders, Permit Requests<\/li>\n<li>Marketing &#8211; Promotions, Campaigns, Events, Affiliates, Collaterals, Agency Services<\/li>\n<li>Organizational &#8211; Communication, Collaboration, Partners<\/li>\n<li>Finances &#8211; Income, Expenses, Accounting, Taxes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Communication<\/h2>\n<p>This portal\/blog is the &#8220;informational&#8221; site for all things Downtown Campbellsville (DC) and works in conjunction with our <a title=\"Downtown Campbellsville on Facebook\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/downtowncampbellsville\">Facebook page<\/a> which is more &#8220;engagement&#8221; oriented.<\/p>\n<p>This Site:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Informational &#8211; Members, Directories, and Guides<\/li>\n<li>Investor and Business Interests &#8211; Leasing and Investment<\/li>\n<li>Jobs and Postings<\/li>\n<li>Operations &#8211; Projects, Documents, Email<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Facebook:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Direct Marketing, Engagement, Promotions<\/li>\n<li>News, Announcements<\/li>\n<li>Events, Calendars<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Viewpoint<\/h2>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to recognize that Downtown Campbellsville has a &#8220;viewpoint&#8221; with economic, social, political, and cultural implications in mind.\u00a0\u00a0 A predefined viewpoint guides our policies on such social topics as smoking, drinking, parking, cruising, signage, permitting, holidays, bullying, and freedom of speech.
